Knight Center for Journalism in the Americas

The Knight Center for Journalism at the University of Texas at Austin was created in August 2002 as a professional training and outreach program for journalists in Latin America and the Caribbean. The Knight Center was founded by Professor Rosental Alves, with a $2 million grant from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation.

Training Mission:
The Center's main objective is to help journalists in the hemisphere to develop self-sustaining training programs that will raise the ethical and professional levels of journalism, thereby contributing to the freedom of press and democracy in the hemisphere.
