Founded in 1909 as Theta Sigma Phi at the University of Washington in Seattle, the association has continued to grow and change. The founding principles, however, still serve as touchstones. These are:
-To promote the advancement of women in all fields of communications
-To work for the First Amendment rights and responsibilities of communicators
-To recognize distinguished professional achievements
-To promote high professional standards throughout the
communications industry
Training Mission:
The association is dedicated to leading progressive change in communication professions through information exchange, leadership, professional development and technology.
