The Florida chapter of the American Copy Editors Society was formed in the fall of 2003 when a group of copy editors gathered at The Orlando Sentinel to talk about copy editing and the issues copy editors face. The chapter is an affiliate of ACES, a professional organization created by copy editors for copy editors. ACES' mission, both the national group and the state chapter, is to improve the quality of journalism and the working lives of journalists.
One of the ways we do that is by educating ACES members and others in the news business and by improving copy editing standards.
Training Mission:
The chapter sponsors a one-day workshop for copy editors, with topics ranging from grammar, libel and legal issues for copy editors, design, and lifestyle issues for copy editors.
